Sage

(aka OTTB Bodi’s Buddy):

Meet Sage, formerly known as Bodi’s Buddy, our beautiful California-bred thoroughbred born on May 13, 1998. Sage embarked on his journey from the racetrack to retirement with us in October 2016.  Rescued from the brink of slaughter at the New Holland Auction kill pen in Pennsylvania, Sage’s story is one of resilience and redemption. Despite facing challenges including a previous shoulder injury, arthritis, anxiety, colic history, and recurrent dermatitis, Sage radiates strength and serenity

At FAA, Sage plays a pivotal role in our equine-assisted sessions, offering solace and support to those in need. Through Reiki Therapy, supplements, and Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF), he receives the care and attention necessary to thrive alongside his herd mates.

Sage’s gentle spirit and intuitive nature make him a beacon of hope for individuals battling depression and anxiety. Affectionately known as the “Guardian of Secrets,” Sage has a unique ability to guide others towards self-discovery and healing, encouraging them to confront their challenges with courage and compassion.

Fun Facts: Sage’s best friends are Freedom, Princess, and Doc.  He enjoys spending time grazing in the pasture, taking in the peace and calmness of the sanctuary.   Sage’s favorite treat is Sweet Chili Doritos, which he enjoys every year on his birthday.
