How do I make an appointment to participate in Forever Amber Acres' programs?

To make an appointment visit the program page to register.

What can I expect from a session?

Each session can vary between 1-4 hours, depending upon the program you are enrolled in. You will be asked to complete some initial paperwork in your first session only.

Our programs focus on various themes customized to your individual needs. Our treatment team may give you a task to do with our horses such as grooming or leading a horse, often in an arena or fenced outdoor space. Lean on our herd to support you in your healing journey.

Do you ever have funding available for non-military participants?

Sometimes we do have additional funding to offset the cost of programs to low-to moderate income families. Please submit a request

Can I bring my pets or emotional support/therapy dogs to events and/or equine therapy and wellness sessions?

Having other animals on the property can be disruptive to sessions, causing danger to both humans, as well as our horses and animals. If you have an emotional support dog that is required to be with you, we ask that you make accomodations for the dog to either be in your vehicle with proper ventilation for temperature control and water, in a portable kennel or that you bring someone with you that can tend to your dog, keeping it on a leash, while you're visiting us. Thank you.

What should I wear when visiting the farm?

This is a working farm, with dirt and dust. You will be outside in the elements, and our facilities are not temperature-controlled. Please dress appropriately for the weather and ALWAYS wear closed-toed shoes that cover your entire foot, preferably boots!

Can I bring treats for the horses?

Please do not bring any treats for the horses. Our horses all have special needs, and therefore, require a special diet. We do NOT advocate for the horses to be bribed with food or treats during sessions or at any time. They are very well-fed and cared for and are never hungry.

Do you offer horseback riding?

No, our horse's riding careers are behind them. We offer hands-on, experiential, ground-based programs.

Are your horses available for adoption?

No, Forever Amber Acres is their forever home.

Can I donate my horse or other animal to your programs?

No.  We regret that as a small organization, we do not have the resources to continue assisting in rehoming, adopting, or placing horses or other companion animals. Due to our commitment to being the “forever home” for our rescues, we are always at full capacity. We encourage all to seek the assistance of no-kill shelters in placing animals you may no longer be able to care for.  If all options have been exhausted and you are faced with the prospect of keeping a beloved animal from auctions, kill pens or other abusive situations, we urge you to consider humane euthanasia, administered by a veterinary professional.
