Princess

Princess's journey began with us in 2009 when she was rescued from a farm in southern Ohio at just 2 years old. She was in terrible shape - was severely underweight and had suffered from extreme abuse and neglect. Her previous owners kept her in a filthy, closet-sized stall with manure up to her knees. She did not have access to water or hay. After being saved, Princess started her rehabilitation process.

With the help of dedicated volunteers, she gradually adjusted to life at the sanctuary. Over time, Princess learned to trust humans and has become the alpha mare of the herd. Despite facing health challenges like Cushing’s Disease, arthritis, thyroid imbalances, and arthritis, she has found joy in spending time with her friends.

Princess plays a vital role in our equine-assisted growth & learning sessions, where she helps our clients learn about trust, setting boundaries, and demanding respect. She receives weekly PEMF treatments to manage her pain and enjoys participating in various activities like playing with hula hoops and tarps.

Fun Facts: Princess’s gotcha day was April 10, 2009 and her best friends are Freedom and Chance. She loves children, being pampered, and a sip of your sugar-free vanilla latte (but only on very special occasions!)
